www.mjaa.org The Daily Nosh by Joel Chernoff: Also pray that we may be rescued from perverse and evil people, for not all are trustworthy. (TLV) II Thessalonians 3:2 Nosh: We are all vulnerable to those who gain our trust, then secretly betray it and act in their own self-interest to our harm. So what is the solution? Paul says the answer is to pray and seek divine assistance. Help comes in the form of discernment to see the deception early and avoid it or once caught in the painful trap of betrayal, how to escape and minimize the harm. Without God’s help, we are likely to be victimized more often and our lives considerably more painful. I know this to be true from personal experience. www.mjaa.org The Daily Nosh by Joel Chernoff: Then God said, “Let the land sprout grass, green plants yielding seed, fruit trees making fruit, each according to it species with seed in it, upon the land.” And it happened so. (TLV) Genesis 1:11 Nosh: From the creation of the world, God established a law in the natural that also governs the social and spiritual world in which we live. Whatever we plant or sow in ourselves or others is what we will harvest. If we sow good and Godly seed, we reap a harvest of life. If we sow seeds of sin and immorality, we produce a harvest of conflict, shame, and destruction. Knowing that this law is absolute, I try to be very careful of the seed I sow in others and what seed I allow to be introduced by others into my life. The reward is an increasingly blessed life. www.mjaa.org The Daily Nosh by Joel Chernoff: Yet I have been Adonai your God since the land of Egypt. You should know no God but Me and there is no Savior apart from Me. I Myself knew you in the wilderness, in a land of terrible drought. While they were fed, they were satisfied. Filled, their hearts became haughty. Therefore, they forgot me. So, I became like a lion to them – like a leopard lying in wait by the way. Hosea 13:4-7 Nosh: Prosperity and success can produce prideful self-reliance and a false sense of security, leading one to foolishly forget that it is God who is the true source of our blessing and strength. God warns that such pride angers Him and moves Him to judgment by removing the blessing He has given. I have found it best to remind myself that whatever successes I experience in life, it is wise to give God the credit. “For God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble” (I Peter 5:5). www.mjaa.org The Daily Nosh by Joel Chernoff: The wise in heart is called discerning, and sweetness of lips increases persuasiveness. (TLV) Proverbs 16:21 Nosh: How we speak to someone affects how successful we are in persuading them. Sweetness of speech implies a verbal presentation characterized by kindness and humility. Although there is no guarantee, more often than not, sweetness of speech results in increased openness to what we are saying. Conversely, harsh or arrogant words increase resistance. www.mjaa.org The Daily Nosh by Joel Chernoff: Practice these things – be absorbed in them, so that your progress may be clear to all. (TLV) I Timothy 4:15 Nosh: As in any endeavor undertaken in life, persistence and practice lead to excellence that is noticed, appreciated, and honored by others. www.mjaa.org The Daily Nosh by Joel Chernoff: However, there should be no poor among you, for Adonai will surely bless you in the land Adonai your God is giving you as an inheritance to possess. If only you would carefully listen to the voice of Adonai your God, being careful to do all these mitzvah (commandments) that I am commanding you today! (TLV) Deuteronomy 15:4-5 Nosh: The dictionary definition of poverty or being poor is having an insufficient supply of financial provision with which to eat, pay the bills, and live a normal life. Over time, it often is destructive mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Notice in this passage that poverty is not part of the promised inheritance. In fact, to the faithful, God promises His blessing in every way, which includes generous financial provision with which to satisfy the necessities of life. www.mjaa.org The Daily Nosh by Joel Chernoff: Adonai (The Lord) examines the righteous. But the wicked and one loving violence His soul hates. (TLV) Psalms 11:5 Nosh: I am comforted to know there is a special hate that Almighty God has for those who promote unjust and hateful violence. Throughout Scripture, when God is provoked over evil conduct, judgment is sure to follow. It is just a matter of when. www.mjaa.org The Daily Nosh by Joel Chernoff: When He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense – which are the prayers of the kedoshim (saints). (TLV) Revelation 5:8 Nosh: This is a wonderful and graphic picture of how our prayers are received by God. We might feel that our prayers are insignificant or even worse – a nuisance or burden. But in God’s world, He welcomes them as pleasurable, sweet-smelling incense. What a wonderful encouragement this is to pray and bring our petitions to God as often as possible. He likes it. It makes Him happy. To Receive the Daily Nosh every day in your email in-box SUBSCRIBE here: https://mjaa.org/the-daily-nosh-19/ Copyright © 2026 Messianic Publishing Company. www.mjaa.org The Daily Nosh by Joel Chernoff: Then all these blessings will come upon you and overtake you, if you listen to the voice of Adonai your God. (TLV) Deuteronomy 28:2 Nosh: Sometimes God’s reward for faithfulness lags well behind our good efforts and leaves us wondering why He is delaying fulfilling His promise or if we will ever see its fulfillment. But here, God pledges that eventually, if we are patient and persist in being faithful to Him, His reward will catch up to us, overtake us, and run in front of us, thus inferring a season of prolonged and abundant success. Even as God long ago promised Israel, it remains true today, that the process of receiving His blessing and reward requires the exercise of faith and patience before the promised blessing arrives. So take heart and never give up! To Receive the Daily Nosh every day in your email in-box SUBSCRIBE here: https://mjaa.org/the-daily-nosh-19/ Copyright © 2026 Messianic Publishing Company. www.mjaa.org The Daily Nosh by Joel Chernoff: Then all the Messiah’s communities will know that I am the One who searches minds and hearts, and I will give to each of you according to your deeds. (TLV) Revelation 2:23b Nosh: What we do, not think, brings divine response, whether it be judgment or blessing. God pays much closer attention to our actions than our thoughts. Thinking about stealing a car is not a criminal act requiring prison time. So, remember, that though we may stumble in our thought life, as long as we do the right thing before God and abstain from doing the wrong thing, we remain in position to receive His blessing and favor. www.mjaa.org The Daily Nosh by Joel Chernoff: Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help and rely on horses, who trust in chariots because they are many and in horsemen because they are very strong, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel or consult the Lord! (ESV) Isaiah 31:1 Nosh: Perhaps the lesson here is that when we face challenges or trouble in life and there is, what appears to be, an easy or obvious solution in human terms, we are not to assume the obvious but seek first God’s counsel. There may be a better solution or unseen pitfalls that only God can reveal and help us avoid. A word to the wise! www.mjaa.org The Daily Nosh by Joel Chernoff: Guard my soul and deliver me. Let me not be ashamed, for I take refuge in you. May integrity and uprightness protect me – for I wait for you. (TLV) Psalms 25:20-21 Nosh: Though David is a great warrior king with a powerful army at his command, he is aware that there is always someone smarter and more powerful. He knows he is vulnerable and that his true strength is his integrity and right relationship with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the God of Israel. In fact, this integrity gives him the confidence and faith that God will intervene when life looks hopeless. Self-reliance is ultimately a fool’s game. God-reliance in all situations – good and bad – is the path of the wise and successful. www.mjaa.org The Daily Nosh by Joel Chernoff: But now I am writing to you not to mix together with anyone who is being called a brother if he is sexually immoral or greedy or an idolater or a slanderer or a drunkard or a swindler – not even to eat with such a fellow. But those who are outside, God judges. Put away the wicked fellow from amongst yourselves. (TLV) I Corinthians 5:11, 13 Nosh: Here is an important warning. People who say one thing but do another cannot and should not be trusted. They profess a spiritual and Godly life but practice sin. The practice of sin and immorality is like a contagious disease, and those that carry it infect others with it. As Paul warns, if the sin of others is tolerated, when God’s judgment falls it will be felt by both the sinner and the tolerant. Your life will not spiritually elevate theirs, but their evil practices will always have a corrosive and destructive effect on yours. Best advice? Put the source of sin and certain judgment far away from your life. www.mjaa.org The Daily Nosh by Joel Chernoff: (Concerning the tithe which is a Biblically mandated practice of giving of one tenth of our income to God’s work/ministry) “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse. Then there will be food in My House. Now test me in this” – says Adonai Tzva’ot (the Lord) of Hosts – “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven, and pour out blessing for you, until no one is without enough. I will rebuke the devouring pest for you, so it will not destroy the fruit of your land, nor will your vine be barren in the field,” says the Lord of Hosts. (TLV) Malachi 3:10-11 Nosh: Tithing is an act of faith. When God sees us acting in faith through our tithe, He promises to respond supernaturally to protect, promote, and bless our professional and financial endeavors. We support God’s work, and He supports ours. As I bring my tithe to God’s House, I often remind myself and Him of His challenge and promise.
