Israeli elections have officially ended. Exit polls are in, and nobody has 61. All four mainstream channels have Netanyahu’s bloc at 50 and Eisenkot’s bloc at 52 or 53. Likud is the largest party with 24 or 25 seats, Yashar is second with 21 to 23, and Bennett’s B’Yachad has 12 to 14. Channel 14, which has given Likud five to ten seats more than everyone else all year, has Netanyahu at 60. The number that changed tonight is 17 or 18. That is how many seats the Arab/Palestinian parties won, the most they have ever had in the Knesset’s history. Around 2 million Arab citizens of Israel voted in numbers nobody predicted, in the most polarized election this country has ever held. Anyone who says Arab Israelis have given up on the system should look at that number. But that number does not hand Eisenkot a government. Even with Lieberman inside and Ra’am’s support from outside, the 2021 Bennett model, he gets to 59 or 60. Still not 61. A minority government that depends on the Arab parties for every vote does not survive long. So the real story of the next few weeks is how much Eisenkot will have to pay, in portfolios and policy, to pull one more partner across the line. Netanyahu’s problem is the mirror image. His bloc dropped from 64 seats to 50, and the only party that can fill the gap is Bennett’s, which spent the whole campaign promising not to sit under him. Israel’s president will now consult with every party and task the leader with the best chance of reaching 61 with forming a government. If nobody can close a deal, the country goes to another election. Israel had one of the highest turnout in its history today. Three years after October 7, with victims still being mourned and reservists still being called up, more Israelis voted than ever before. The country is split down the middle, but it showed up. Exit polls, not final results, but they are usually close. #Israel #IsraelElections #Knesset

I've built a career on keeping my cool, even against people whose only goal is to provoke me. On the upcoming Piers Morgan Uncensored, I debated Norman Finkelstein and Glenn Greenwald, two men who have spent three years explaining why October 7 was understandable. I couldn't

@IhabHassane I agree with that, Ihab. Both Israelis and Palestinians deserve to live in freedom, dignity, security, with self determination. It’s not just a slogan to me. I know it’s hard to see it happening right now, but both people aren’t going anywhere—it’s the only moral solution.

“I think that being deprived of the decisions of how much to eat, when to eat, how to eat, and who to eat with – was a big, huge issue in Gaza." Today marks the first Yom Kippur since the last Israeli hostage in Gaza came home. For former hostages like Aviva and Keith Siegel,

On Yom Kippur last year— the holiest day for Jews—a synagogue in Manchester became a crime scene. 2 murdered. More injured. This is what happens when hate is normalised, when Jew-haters are allowed to roam free. You can keep gaslighting Jews about the threat of antisemitism.

Today is Yom Kippur—the holiest day of the Jewish year. In Israel, the entire country pauses: no cars on the roads, no TV or radio, no flights in or out of Ben Gurion Airport. It's a day of prayer, reflection, and renewal. Gmar Chatima Tovah. 🙏✡️

Ed Sheeran had to remove the "B stage," which put him closer to the audience, from the setup of his first show after the Macklemore controversy. All the grandstanding about Macklemore didn't make a single Palestinian safer. But it did make large concerts in the United States

Everyone is focused on what buzzwords Ed Sheeran used to describe the Israeli Palestinian conflict. For what it’s worth, I think his statement was nuanced and reflected actual thought, as well as his signature empathy. But what struck me 100x more was his statement at the end

Motaz Azaiza, the supposed “journalist" is back in the news. Before it came to light that he was present during the hostage-taking on October 7th and hid it, he was a guest of Ms. Rachel’s. But Azaiza has never made a secret of his sympathy for terrorists. Here he is proudly

Free Palestine activists are already gathered outside of Lincoln Financial Field, where Ed Sheeran is set to perform tonight. Remember, his only crimes are saying that he sympathizes with both sides and not cancelling a show his fans paid money for. The irony in them calling

Jon Lovett is struggling with the word Zionism, which is fine. When Michael Moynihan presses him on how he is struggling because the word has been redefined for political use, he makes an entire argument to why everyone should be a Zionist. He was so close.

Yet another singer you've never heard about said Free Palestine on stage, how daring, brave, and stunning. Jack Antonoff, the Jewish singer, producer and frontman of Bleachers, read the room and realized he has to give his pound of flesh to the mob or he'll get the pitchfork.
